Chemical & Stain Resistance

WILSONART® CHEMSURF®

CHEMICAL & STAIN RESISTANCE

Wilsonart® produced an exceptional finishing surface material only for highly corrosive environments where resists the hardest of acids, bases and solvents. Wilsonart® Chemsurf becomes a useful Laminate for cabinets, casework, counters and tabletops in the Laboratory, hospitals, photographers’ darkrooms, beauty salons and product testing facilities.

I. Procedure of the Test

  1. Clean the test specimen with a clean, dry and soft cloth prior to the test.
  2. Two drops (one drop: 1/20cc) of the test chemical is placed on the test specimen surface. The chemical is covered with a watch glass (45mm) for a period of 24 hours at the room temperature (23℃).
  3. Rinse the test chemical with water after 24 hours and dry with a cloth.

⇒Evaluate the effect of the test specimen.

II. Chemical and Stain Resistance

The result of the test demonstrates Wilsonart® Chemsurf® to be excellent performance in resisting up to 149 stains and chemical agents. Wilsonart® Chemsurf® Chemical-Resistant Compact Laminate is engineered to serve an exclusive purpose for creating a special finishing surface material that resists the hardest of acids, bases and solvents in highly corrosive environments. This is obviously a multitalented solution for improving the excessive cost or weight instead of other materials such as slate, stainless steel or epoxy.

I. The composition

Wilsonart® Chemsurf® is composed of 5 layers to achieve the desired thickness and chemical resistance with a special resin formulation.

These sheets are then bonded at pressures greater than 1000 pounds per square inch at temperatures approaching 220°C. Finished sheets are trimmed, and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding.

What is Laminate?

WHAT IS LAMINATE?

High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a quality surfacing material to popularly utilize in the interior industry. Owned the remarkable structure, on-trend designs, long-lasting life, and outstanding performance, HPL becomes ideal and friendly to be available for residential and commercial applications.

1. The Composition

High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) is composed of 3 layers.

Layer 1 – Kraft Paper core: Impregnated with Phenolic Resin and compressed at an elevated temperature. Thickness depends on the number of kraft paper sheets to support high impact resistance.

Layer 2 – Décor Paper: Bath with Melamine Resin are pressed over Kraft Paper core. This layer is seen as the façade of HPL through demonstrating extraordinary patterns and colours.

Layer 3 – Overlay Paper: As a “hero” of the HPL with the purpose of creating a wear and scratch resistance top layer, avoid damage during use.

These sheets are then bonded at pressures greater than 1000 pounds per square inch at temperatures approaching 300F (149C). Finished sheets are trimmed, and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding.

HPL needs to be glued on the chipboard as MFC/MDF and will be mainly used in furniture, office, retail space, countertops, worktops and other applications.
